Consumers today wear their health on their sleeves. Literally. Sleep monitors. Heart rate tracking. Daily step goals. Posture correction. Wearable health technologies are expanding in scope and booming in popularity. According to Forrester’s 2015 State of Consumers and Technology report, 1 in 5 US online adults uses a wearable device. Gartner, Inc. predicts that sales for wearables will grow by 18.4% in 2016—creating a $28.7 billion market. People want control of their health. We want hard and fast numbers about our activity, food consumption, sleep, and now even more complex metrics, like blood pressure and even blood sugar.

How do consumers use the metrics featured on their devices? What information should be shared with providers? Do patients want to share that information? What risks are involved? What opportunities exist? As health metrics become increasingly, invisibly integrated into our daily lives, how can healthcare organizations engage us through our stats?
